Is Vistakon the same as Johnson and Johnson? ›

It was called Frontier Contact Lenses. Johnson & Johnson renamed it Vistakon, and later it became a division of Johnson & Johnson Vision Care.

Acuvue 2 contacts are bi-weekly lenses. They can be worn daily for 2 weeks or continuously for up to 6 nights and 7 days, after which they must be removed, disposed of, and replaced with a new pair of lenses.

Contact lenses designed to correct your vision are sold by prescription only. They are medical devices that require a proper fitting by an eye doctor. In order to obtain them, it is necessary to have a valid prescription to ensure a proper fit and guarantee their safety without causing any harm to your eyes.

You can't legally order contacts with an expired prescription either. Contact lenses are classified as medical devices in the U.S., so your prescription needs to be current to have it filled. These guidelines apply to both physical locations and online retailers.

Can I just walk in and buy contact lenses? ›

Contact lenses can be prescribed for extreme degrees of myopia, even for those who need correction of more than -20 dioptres. Some lenses can go over -30 dioptres. For regular soft contact lenses, the highest level of corrective power for most lenses is usually about -12.00 dioptres.
