The Administrator (SCP Foundation) (1)

Welcome, newly-appointed overseer.

You have questions. Perhaps you don't even know what they all are, or care what the answers are at this point, but you have them, and you have many. If you opened this letter expecting those answers, I will tell you all that I have.

Which is none.

What is SCP-001? There isn't one. Was there a first anomalous object that was discovered? Of course. Was it important? Probably not. Confused? Good. At least you're still human. That's all we are, human beings. Human beings that thought we could reliably record the destruction of sanity. We were fools. We still are. The Foundation is compromised, it always has been, and it always will be. Why? We thought that there was a linchpin, a reason for it all—it's because we thought there was a "why".

There wasn't one.

This is the way things are. Nothing has changed, the universe hasn't broken down over time, this is how it's supposed to be. Personnel are told about SCP-001 because it comforts them. It helps to think there is a why, because that suggests that there is a solution, but there isn't. We do not repair: we secure, contain, protect. Surely you must have wondered why the objects are not numbered chronologically, in order of recovery? Surely you must have wondered why some objects have fully documented histories and others don't? Surely you must have wondered, given everything you know, why this world even still exists? See, I told you that you had more questions than you thought.

We don't know how much of what we documented is true anymore, it probably changes from day to day. There's no way of telling what is being affected by what anomaly, especially when there could be an infinite number that we haven't even discovered. Existence is an anomaly.

So what do we expect you to do, armed with this information, or lack thereof? Whatever you can. We do not repair, and we do not solve.

We Secure.

We Contain.

We Protect.

Congratulations on your promotion to overseer.

Good luck.

-The Administrator

PS: Don't worry about it too much, whatever you think is the truth is probably good enough anyway.

What are you?

A signature on a document. A suit in a boardroom. A voice on the phone. Mr. Siegel realized the truth too late: though Frederick Williams was the Foundation’s first Administrator, he was not the Administrator. I am, Mr. Lucien. I exist because of the Foundation. And the Foundation exists because of me. What is it that Purpose is always saying? To know my nature is to know the nature of the Foundation. Something like that.

Did you genuinely think Mr. Siegel joined the Foundation for power? That the Foundation seduced him and he fell for its wiles and ways? No. He reached a conclusion and made a decision, at the expense of his ideals. He did it for the same reason you’re standing here today - because he wanted to finish the job. Then you came along, and after all the warnings you still decided to put a spear through his heart, the only man standing between myself and all of creation.

And then? You picked up the phone.

And what if I hadn’t picked it up?

Don’t be silly, Calvin. Someone always picks up the phone.

I could still walk away.

Yes, you could. You could walk away right now, and nobody but you and me would ever know you were here. You could even press that button there, and see what that means for the Foundation. And then, in a few minutes, the phone would ring again, and again, and again — and no one would answer. No one would tell them what to do, Mr. Lucien. When those sites are broken open and the monsters inside are loosed from their cages, billions will die, and then more. And I’ll still be here.

You said it yourself; I’m a cancer. I’m the anomaly. I was born when the first man saw the first miracle - the emergent conscious of the entire Foundation. Frederick Williams didn’t realize what he had done when he did it, but Mr. Siegel figured it out, in time. Who do you think is in the best position to stop that cancer from spreading now? Certainly not Mr. Siegel - he’s impaled on a wall upstairs. You killed the rest of his protectors - those he charged to continue his work if he ever died. Who do you think will contain me now?

Summary

The Administrator is a mysterious figure in the SCP Foundation, often believed to be the only person superior to the O5 Council and having deep involvement with the formation of The Foundation in general. The Administrator's nature remains unknown, unclear, and often contradictory, with those claiming to be The Administrator varying in appearance and even species drastically. The Administrator is also likely not a single person holding the same position, and there is at least one fake Administrator. At least one person calls themselves the Administrator in every reality that The Foundation has access to; they all have the same role in the creation and leadership of The Foundation.

Powers and Stats

Tier: At least 10-A physically, possibly far higher, 9-B with SCP-262, 2-C over time, Varies with Preparation | High 1-A

Key: The Man | The Seed

Name: Real name varies, referred to as The Administrator, epithets include "The Official", "Kismet", and "Spider" according to The Black Queen, various SCP classifications | The Administrator, SCP-001, DJKaktus's Proposal III

Origin: SCP Foundation

Gender: Variable | Inapplicable

Age: Unknown

Classification: Human(?), The Administrator of The SCP Foundation, Manifestation of The Foundation's Intent

Powers and Abilities:

  • The Man

  • The Seed

Peak Human Physical Characteristics, Immortality (Type 1), Genius Intelligence, Martial Arts, Weapon Mastery, Stealth Mastery, Acausality (Types 1, 2, 3, and 4; The Administrator exists in every reality with a persistent character and role in creating The Foundation. However, these are all the "personal touches" of the real Administrator, who has no counterparts or alternate forms. Does not interact with matter in the present, instead moving through it at the point at which the space is unoccupied, whether this be in the past or future. Seemingly unaffected by the alteration of history), Dimensional Travel, Time Travel, Abstract Existence (Type 1; describes itself as an idea forged into sapience and "the original, unaltered manifestation of the Foundation's ideology and intent, formed from a collective desire for a specific type of security."), Preparation, Reality Warping, Physics Manipulation (Implied to be the first Type Green. Knows Aaron Siegal's equations), possibly Plot Manipulation (One iteration of The Administrator is described as "the idiot who keeps ripping pages out", with these metaphorical pages being "all of the different everythings out there." By "skipping to the good part" of these pages, one "makes the world smaller"), Hacking, Dream Manipulation, Precognition (As SCP-990, they repeatedly predict future events, seemingly a large span of time in advance, such as the death of particular individuals, and a world-ending nuclear exchange. Can predict every outcome of an event, including those created due to its prediction), Cosmic Awareness (Aware of SCP-001 (Kalinin's Proposal)'s intentions, despite it acting from a different plane of existence), Conceptual Manipulation, Law Manipulation, Existence Erasure, Teleportation (SCP-4112 is capable of ontokinesis, erasing targets from existence, changing the laws of reality, or teleporting the user), Time Manipulation (SCP-4112 is implied to have rewound time and replaced the normal Administrator with its user), Duplication (Passively duplicates itself to achieve every outcome of a given task), Death Manipulation, Matter Manipulation, Mind Manipulation (The Administrator's existence is the sole cause of death, entropic decay, and loss of societal stability, with these properties having been ceded to The Foundation, and subsequently to the former, by an Essophysical entity, heavily implied to be Death itself. As an Essophysical entity, The Administrator is directly responsible for every instance of decay that occurs), Immortality Negation (Type 5; The Administrator's existence allows for death as a phenomena to exist, forcing it back onto everything in the universe), Reactive Evolution (Implied to be capable of resisting effects that it was previous vulnerable to, such as those of Strayer Density Matrices), Shapeshifting, Pocket Reality Manipulation (SCP-262 contains a non-euclidean space which itself contains an unknown but extremely large number of arms. By dropping the coat onto someone, they are transported to the space and their arms will appear alongside the others to perform various tasks), Limited Instinctive Reaction (SCP-262 can defend its wearer from danger they have not detected and acts of its own accord). Resistance to Mind Manipulation, Biological Manipulation (As someone with security clearance above the O5s, he should be inoculated against a wide variety of memetic kill agents that permanently cease brain function or cause cardiac arrest), Memory Manipulation (All O5s have an mnestic regiment which allows them to perceive and remember anti-memes, which The Administrator should have had access to), possibly Death Manipulation and Matter Manipulation (Strayer Density Matrices are implied to keep SCP-4260 from succumbing to its own effects)

All previous, Enhanced Abstract Existence (Type 1; Exists as the idea of The Foundation and anomalies in general), Immortality (Types 5 and 8; death cannot claim The Administrator. As The Foundation will never cease to exist as long as The Administrator exists, the opposite is also true), Acausality (Type 5), Beyond-Dimensional Existence (Type 2), Transduality (Type 2; Exists far beyond the scope of SCP-3125), the powers of The Children, a shard of Mekhane, Calvin Desmet, Nahash, SCP-682, SCP-610, and many, many other anomalies

Attack Potency: At least Athlete level physically (Several versions of The Administrator are field agents, who should be far above average for human physical ability), possibly far higher (One iteration of The Administrator is described as "the idiot who keeps ripping pages out", with these metaphorical pages being "all of the different everythings out there." Another instance may have obtained divinity, although exactly how powerful this made them is unknown), Wall level with SCP-262 (Its arms can easily dismember a human), Low Multiverse level over time (The Administrator is trapped in a causal loop that keeps them trapped at the date of the founding of The Foundation, creating and eventually destroying three separate timelines as a result). Varies with Preparation (Possesses greater control over The Foundation than any other individual, with the possible exception of Aaron Siegal hiding as SCP-055, and even possesses the latter's equations) | High Outerverse level (Exists as the concept of The Foundation and everything designated by it as an anomaly, including the likes of SCP-3812 and SCP-3125. The Administrator became one with the very fabric of reality. It is heavily implied the Spear of the Non-Believer cannot kill him, although it is likely due to him not being a god)

Speed: Peak Human | Likely Nigh-Omnipresent (Its voice was described as sounding "both very far away, and occupying the same space Calvin was.")

Lifting Strength: Likely Above Average Human | Immeasurable

Striking Strength: At least Athlete level, Wall level with SCP-262 | High Outerverse level

Durability: At least Athlete level | High Outerverse level

Stamina: Unknown, likely Athletic (Their documentation as various SCPs lacks any descriptions of rest or sleep-like behavior. Various iterations of The Administrator are notoriously hard workers, especially due to their position | Unknown, likely Infinite

Range: Standard Melee Range, Tens of Meters with SCP-262, Low Multiversal over time | High Outerversal (Should exist where and on whatever scale the anomalous does)

Standard Equipment: SCP-262, SCP-4112 | None notable

Intelligence: Supergenius (Holds absolute power over every aspect of The Foundation, even above that of the O5 Council, although they are implied to use it rarely. Various iterations of The Administrator have them creating anomalous devices capable of large-scale alteration to reality or the multiverse as a whole. Knows Aaron Siegal's equations, with which they created every SCP, including SCP-682, SCP-610, SCP-008, and many, many more, specifically including every Keter-class SCP. Heavily implied to be spear-heading a project to create an afterlife suitable for humanity

Weaknesses: As an Essophysical entity that causes death and decay, it is subject to this property itself and will eventually die | It is possible that the existence of The Foundation prevents it from utilizing its full power, although exactly why is unknown

Note: Due to the vast number of conflicting reports about The Administrator, this page is, by necessity, a composite of sorts. However, multiple explanations for these inconsistencies exist and rarely, if ever, contradict each other. As such, this page assumes the theory proposed by Thaddeus Xyank and supported by dialogue from The Administrator from the Expanded Biography of "The Administrator" is true.
