Neither the Turkish Ministry of Defence nor the government commented on the tests, but local media reported sources close to the ministry saying Ankara would not give a confirmation nor make a statement to avoid attempts to use the S-400 purchase against Turkey.
However, Russia’s TASS news agency reported on 16 October that three S-400 missiles were launched and all hit their targets, which Turkish defence news web portals said were provided by Banshee and Turkish Aeropace Şimşek target drones.
US government sanctions Turkey over S-400 buy
The US government announced the imposition of sanctions on Turkey’s defence acquisition organisation on 14 December under the Countering America’s Adversaries Through Sanctions Act (CAATSA) over the Turkish acquisition of Russian S-400 (SA-21 ‘Growler’) air-defence system.

State‐controlled Almaz‐Antey is Russia's largest defence industrial concern. It is the holding company that sits above the country's principal industrial assets in the field of ground‐ and sea‐based air defence systems. The company was created in 2002 by presidential decree through the merger of Almaz and NPO Antey. It expanded in 2007 as additional enterprises were brought under the aegis of the group, thus mirroring the state‐driven consolidation that took place elsewhere in the Russian military industrial complex at this time. It is formed of around 50 core companies.
